dragon card

Postby jayjay » Fri 01 Apr 2011 4:19 am

Hi
I am a new member and have already stitched a few cards and enjoyed them. I have started the dragon card but I am a little confused with the instructions...
Both flames instructions seem to finish at G and H and O and P ... but are clearly not done.
I have completed section one of the wings and the instructions say work 2-8 in a similar way.... use the illustration as a guide..
How do I know where to start in the section ?
I am just confused
Can anyone help
Thanks
jayjay

Welcome to the forum Jay and thank you for your question.

Please study the finished diagram as well as the numbered diagram. This shows what you are aiming at. If necessary zoom in on your computer screen to get more detail.

The flame.
When you get an instruction that says "Continue this sequence" it usually means that you move forward by one hole with each stitch. Keep going until you reach the final stitch shown on the diagram. Some of the holes are used twice. The finished diagram will show you which ones.

The wing.
On each wing section one stitch is indicated. You can start this stitch at either end. After the first stitch move forward by one hole in a clockwise direction in a similar way to wing section 1. Keep going until the section is complete using the finished illustration as a guide.

If any of this is not clear please do not hesitate to ask again.
Best wishes,
David.

Hello,

I recently did this card and I also found the instructions quite difficult to follow. It took me ages to work out how to do the wing sections, and I did mess it up a bit, but you can't notice it luckily.

Hope you manage to work it out :)

Hi
Sorry it's been a while since I was here... I did finish the dragon card and I loved it... I framed it as a picture.

Well done for persevering. I hope you are going to post it in the gallery for us to see. When I am stuck like that I often find that the best thing to do is take a break and it's amazing that when you go back to the "problem" it so easily falls into place!
